Smartphone Free Childhood collects and processes your personal information in accordance with this privacy policy. This policy provides you with information regarding our obligations and your rights in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Information that you provide to us directly might include personal information such as your name, email address, postal address, school, telephone number and other personal details. 

How we get the personal information and why we have it
We are using your personal data to provide you with details of our organisation, news and updates. You are free to withdraw this consent at any time. 

We respect your privacy at all times. Your information will never be disclosed or shared with others without your consent, unless required to do so by law. 

Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly. We also receive personal information indirectly, from the following sources in the following scenarios:
  • From WhatsApp groups offering support and volunteering
  • Subscriptions to services
  • Using tools on our website where you enter your details such as writing a letter to your MP

We may share this information with members of Smartphone Free Childhood and journalists (if you have approved this). 

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are:

How we store your personal information 
Your information is securely stored. We will only retain personal information for as long as is necessary. For further details on our data retention periods please contact us. We will then dispose your information by deleting all personal information from our CRM. If you opt out or unsubscribe from SFC we remove your information within 24 hours. 


Your data protection rights
Under data protection law, you have rights including:
  • Your right of access - You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information. 
  • Your right to rectification - You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.

  • Your right to restriction of processing - You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances. 
  • Your right to object to processing - You have the the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
  • Your right to data portability - You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.
  • You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.
